Datacentermap.com is a handy site that uses a Google Maps plugin to display the locations of nearly 1500 data centers in 65 countries around the world. It provides an interesting insight into our Internet architecture.
The United States has 728 data centers on the map, more than any other country. Most are concentrated along the east and west coasts. Behind America are Germany with 107 facilities, the UK with 96, and France with 70. Altogether, 481 are listed in western Europe. Keep in mind that these statistics aren’t completely accurate as the data is self-reported.
